An interesting new shop on Forest Ave: State of Comics & Collectibles is now open and worth a visit even if you don’t read comics. There’s a wide range of books and collectibles that will be sure to fascinate you. Now we just need a good playing card and hobby shop!

At last! The old Plymouth Post Office has been saved and the new Westborn Market is open. It’s great to see the repurposing of this historic structure and the details within. Notice the old post office boxes and safe. There’s even more to see than we have photos of and of course there’s the food and drink too. Best to visit soon and enjoy it all for yourself. Downtown Plymouth now has a complete full service grocery store that’s an easy walk or bike for local residents and for us too!
It’s good to see a new retail store open in the downtown Plymouth – this time Basement Vintage at 843 Penniman Avenue which is accessed by taking the alley beside Pizza and Vino (Cellar 849). According to Linda J. O’Neill, Owner, Basement Vintage “caters to the savvy furniture shopper looking for that one-of-a-kind shabby-chic piece, or those who appreciate the swanky style of mid-century”. Now open, the Alpine Chocolat Haus brings another flavor to the downtown Plymouth experience. Although you can buy chocolate and ice cream at any number of enticing shops in the City, you won’t find one with a better location – right across from the Park! The interior design of the shop is modern and inviting. The displays are clean and contemporary while the brick wall adds warmth. The ice-cream display is even at ‘kid-height’ so the young ones can see the frozen treats more easily! At the far end of the store, there’s even a lounge area with comfortable chairs, wi-fi, TV, and iPads for the kids to play on.
The Alpine Chocolat Haus is poised for a stirring grand opening in downtown Plymouth. With construction work nearing completion, the sign was recently unveiled and it does look very tasty good. Posters covering the windows have all the prerequisite marketing language appropriate to Plymouth – words like ‘Artisan’ and ‘Michigan Made’ certainly will resonate with locals as the town gradually shifts slightly more upscale.
