Following the successful launch of the Garage Grill and Fuel Bar that took an old car dealership/gas station and turned it into a Northville destination, it’s gratifying to hear that another historic building in the area is being repurposed. This time it’s the Belanger Building on Cady in downtown Northville which will become the new home of the Village Workshop – a community workshop designed to suit the needs of local artists, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs. Community workshops and offices have been a growing trend and similar to internet cafes – provide a temporary office/studio space that you use (and pay for) only when you need it. It’s a great way to exploit scale economy for small businesses. You can learn more about this exciting project at their website, The Village Workshop.
